Today in class we just finished reading another one of Walter Dean Meyers short stories, "The Streak". It was about a boy named Jamie Farrell who just lost a basketball game to the Powell Academy. His whole basketball team starts disliking him. A whole bunch of bad things starts to follow after that. First he breaks the Wonderade, then Maurice almost beats him up,he hurts his ankle, fails a test and a few moer things. Then all of a sudden his luck turns around and his friend Froggy said that now he will have 7 good things happening. Jamie is so excited about asking a girl named Celia out to the dance before his good luck runs out on him. He plans on asking her and everytime he does something else good happens. Which makes his good luck streak run out. It's so ironice because at the end Celia ends up asking him out to the dance because she says now she has a good luck streak. Everything works out for Jamie.
I loved this book it was funny. Jamie always kept trying to ask her out and he never got to that. The funny part was how he would keep saying Celia was so fine. But I'm glad Celia asked him out. He ended up going with her anyway, The message I guess is that things happen when you least expect it.
